Shared services "multiplying fast"

The number of shared services is "multiplying fast", according to one commentator.

It is "all the more urgent", therefore, that organisations learn how to get the most out of shared services partnerships, adds Eric Bohl, director of EightyTwenty Insight and author of the Solace Guide to Sourcing.

In an article for the MJ he states that sourcing is not only about how organisations can get more for less money, but also demonstrates that authorities are "thinking big".

"There are some examples of impressive results being achieved by fully-integrated shared services," Mr Bohl comments.

He also warns that the cost of embarking on such sourcing programmes can be a significant barrier, although the end result may be "attractive".

Last week Mr Bohl stated that shared services are gaining momentum.

He pointed out that however good in-house services are, they could become cheaper and better through collaboration.

In an article for Local.Gov.co.uk, he added that some evidence shows impressive efficiency savings and service improvements through using shared services. ADNFCR-1942-ID-18819381-ADNFCR
