Shared services centre for brewery firm

News brought to you by IQPC.Wipro Technologies is setting up a shared services centre for AmBev, the largest brewery company in Latin America.
The firm's Business Process Outsourcing division, Wipro BPO, will provide the centre, which will offer services such as accounting, order management, customer services and human resources.
Benefits for the brewery firm, which includes brands such as Becks and Stella, are expected to include financial growth and transformation opportunities.
Renato Nahas Batista, zonal vice-president at AmBev, explained: "The partnership with Wipro will focus on transforming the existing Shared Service Centre and provide services across Latin America for AmBev."
Matthew Robinson, event director for SSON's Shared Services & Outsourcing Summit 2009, added: "Shared services organisations now evaluate the integration of BPO providers on the basis of what expertise the company can bring, as well as what cost benefits there may be.
"How organisations can leverage these relationships will be a key focus for the February summit."
Wipro BPO services customers in industries from banking to travel to healthcare.
It employs some 20,000 people at nine locations throughout India and Eastern Europe.
Last month the nominees for the Local Government IT Excellence Awards were announced, with two organisations in the running for the shared services award.
Hampshire county council and Northern Ireland Civil Service were nominated in the category, Public Technology reported.
