Shared services "hub" for Calcutta

News brought to you by IQPC.A "global hub" for shared services is to be set up in Rajarhat, Calcutta.
Steel producer ArcelorMittal has approached the west Bengal government for land, in order to set up its research and development centre.
Chief minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee revealed that other companies, including Airtel and ICICI Bank, have also approached the authorities for land in the same area.
"The centre would be a global hub for design and engineering and shared services and in the final stage it will have 300 engineers working in it," added Vijay Bhatnagar, chief executive officer or ArcelorMittal India.
It would cater to the needs of the firm's plants in 27 countries around the world, he explained.
Earlier this week, Wipro Technologies announced that it is to set up a shared services centre for Latin America's largest brewery firm, AmBev.
The facility will be provided by Wipro's Business Process Outsourcing division and offers shared services such as accounting, order management, customer services and human resources.
