Steria has secured a contract with Hinckley and Bosworth borough council (HBBC) and its neighbour Oadby and Wigston (OWBC) which will see it provide the two authorities with IT shared services.

The deal will see the creation of an IT centre which will standardise the delivery of core service into one location, starting from early next year.

According to Steria, the process will allow both councils to cut costs and improve infrastructure.

Councillor Sharon Morris, chair of OWBB's policy committee explained that the savings Steria had created for HBBC in the last two years of working with it.

"At Hinckley, Steria was able to make strategic improvements, such as introducing wireless access to ICT systems, which has better suited the needs of council staff," she said.

OWBB is looking forward to benefiting from the same high level of service, Ms Morris added.

Last week, Steria extended its shared services contact with the NHS and will now implement the Manpower payroll software package at primary care trusts across the UK.ADNFCR-1942-ID-18926691-ADNFCR
