News brought to you by IQPC.Improving business processes is one of the top priorities of chief information officers (CIOs) in the year ahead, according to a new survey.
Research by Gartner reveals that 57 per cent of CIOs will be looking to streamline operations in the year ahead.
Mark McDonald, group vice-president and head of research at the firm, explained that companies are looking to cut costs by changing the way they work.
"Doing that obviously requires not only changing business processes, but also changing the applications and technologies around business intelligence," he said.
Business process improvement is now a core expectation of a firm's IT function and CIOs recognise this, Mr McDonald added.
Yesterday, Larry Guevel, vice-president of strategic business planning for Unisys, suggested firms facing IT budget cuts could use outsourcing to do so.
He explained that this would allow them to save money at the same time as maintaining the quality of their services.
